The Itinerary:
Day 1: Nairobi – Sweet waters
Leaving Nairobi in the morning, we drive to the western shoulder of the mighty Mount Kenya to Serena Sweet waters Tented Lodge. Arrive in time for lunch.
Sweet waters Tented Camp, Ol Pejeta Conservancy; A sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of a private wildlife conservancy, Sweet waters Tented Camp is in a class of its own. Abounding with wildlife, unfettered by the more rigorous strictures of the Kenyan National Parks and designed to offer a charming blend of under canvas ambiance and uncompromising luxury, it has long been the preferred retreat of wilderness and safari lovers alike.
One of only four private game reserves in Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy excels in the provision of privileged seclusion and private game viewing. Thanks to its private status it also allows such unforgettable pleasures as the Sweet waters Chimpanzee Sanctuary (the only place in Kenya to see these highly endangered animals), visits to Moran, a tame black rhino, night game drives, guided bush walks and camel-trekking across game-teaming plains.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive, returning to the camp at dusk for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Sweet waters/Lake Bogoria
An early morning game drive is followed by breakfast, thereafter depart for Lake Bogoria has a closed drainage system meaning that the water is alkaline in nature and supports only microscopic algae with no fish.
Arriving in time for lunch relax proceed for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bogoria Spa or Similar
Lake Bogoria: described in the past as the “jewel of the Rift Valley” and by the words of Bishop Hannington at his first sight as “the most beautiful view in Africa.” With the backdrop of the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley, it is a stunning beauty that has always enchanted its visitors. The contrast in colours from the grasslands into the Lake and the sky above can only describe the place as “nature’s studio.”
Day 3: Lake Bogoria/Lake Naivasha
Leaving after breakfast, drive off to Lake Naivasha to arrive in time for lunch, and later proceed for an afternoon game drive.
Check-in to Naivasha Sopa Lodge and settle. Lunch will be served at the Lodge and thereafter, leave to enjoy an afternoon game drive at Hell’s Gate National Park.
Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley Lakes at an altitude of 1880 m. It is also the second largest fresh water lake in Kenya and is unusual that it has no known outlet, normally a requirement for a freshwater lake. The dense vegetation in the edge of the lake support a thriving bird population - the area has a list of over 350 species. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores; Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys swing in the treetops while the Lakes’ large Hippos sleep the day out in the shallows.
Hell's Gate National Park lies south of Lake Naivasha in Kenya, North West of Nairobi. Hell's Gate National Park is named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley. It was established in 1984. A small national park, it is known for its wide variety of wildlife and for its scenery. This includes the Fischer's Tower and Central Tower columns and Hell's Gate Gorge. The National Park is also home to three geothermal power stations at Olkaria. The park is equipped with three basic campsites and includes a Maasai Cultural Center, providing education about the Maasai tribe’s culture and traditions.
There is a wide variety of wildlife in the national park, though many are few in number. Examples of little seen wildlife include lions, leopards, and cheetahs. However, the park has historically been an important home for the rare lammergeyer eagles. There are over 103 species of birds in the park, including vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles, Augur Buzzard, and swifts. Hyraxes, African buffalo, Zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thompson’s Gazelle, and baboons are also common. The park is also home to serval and small numbers of klipspringer antelope and Chanler's mountain reedbuck.
Return to your lodge at dusk for dinner and overnight – Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge
