This soda lake is ridged by picturesque hills giving a wonderful view of the whole expanse of the lake and shores, drawing many aquatic birds along with the countless flamingos whose flight makes a pink cloud against blue water. Over 450 species of birds are available in this sanctuary.
Lake Nakuru National Park: Located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, this park has a great concentration of wildlife including waterbuck, gazelle, buffalo, rhino, the rare Rothschild giraffe, and if lucky, you may see lions and Leopard. The lake and National Park, which is also a bird sanctuary is famous also for its great concentration of birds, in particular the colourful flamingo and the Pelican, which seasonally feed off the abundant algae in the shallow waters of this soda lake
The park was gazetted the first Rhino Sanctuary in the country and boasts of both the White and black Rhino. The park is also home to a large / great Euphorbia forest, which compliments the beauty of the acacia forest on the shores of the Lake - a ‘mini-paradise’ as described by many who have toured here!

A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SOME LODGES/CAMPS WE WOULD RECOMMEND:
Ol Pejeta House, Nanyuki-Kenya
Once the exclusive ranch house of multi-millionaire Adnan Kashoggi, this magnificently presented house stands at the centre of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
Set in extensive grounds, with glorious views of Mount Kenya, this opulent mansion features a series of reception rooms, including an elegant drawing room with baronial fireplace and a series of scenic verandas, which extend right around the house. The imposing dining room is served by its own dedicated chef and kitchens, and menus can be tailored exactly to suit our guests' wishes. Accommodation includes a private guest cottage, two master suites and two guest bedrooms while the grounds include two private swimming pools and a barbeque and external dining area.
A short drive from the luxury Sweetwaters Tented Camp, the house enjoys all the exclusivity of its private location while being close enough to the camp to have access to all its many facilities.
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which is host to all the members of the ‘Big Five' (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard), has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy programme, the conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species.
Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular flamingo pink rimmed Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic vistas of the Lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park. A short two hour drive from Nairobi, the Lodge is a favourite with residents and visitors to Kenya, among the Lake Nakuru lodges.
The Lodge is cleverly laid out such that most rooms and sitting areas afford stunning views of the Lake and the Park. The Lodge incorporates natural landscaping with tall acacia trees, winding walkways and greens dotted with bird feeds. Spread over acres, the Lodge is a natural haven for bird life and attracts over 50 species of birds amongst the 400 species that inhabit the Park.
